This is, after all, a creative endeavor to bring a little clarity, health, softness, and stress reduction into the lives of those you love through the gift of do-it-yourself essential oil recipes.

Hey! That Smells Like Christmas!

This old standby is a favorite of family and friends, especially around the holidays. Keep it in your travel bag or handy around the house. It’s called “Thieves Spray” and yes, it smells just like Christmas. It can be used to eliminate heavy orders from a room, clean serving trays and armrests on a plane, freshen your gym bag, wipe off the seats in public restrooms, or clean a toddler’s toys. Here are the things you will need:

  • Distilled water 2 ounces
  • 15 to 10 drops of thieves oil or bandit oil
  • Organic witch hazel 1 teaspoon
  • One glass spray bottle, dark, 2 ounces

In the spray bottle, combine the witch hazel, drops of thieves or bandit oil, fill the rest of the way with distilled water, and cap it off. With this particular gift being so easy to make and such a holiday favorite, it may be one that you repeat over and over.

Everybody Can Use A Little Lavender

Actually, this is a blend of lavender and lemon, among other things. The point being, it is soothing to the mind and skin. This little gift is something you and your gift recipients are going to want to have on hand year-round, but particularly during the winter months which can be harder on skin due to their drying effect. It is an all-purpose salve. Feel free to give it some catchy name, thereby making it a truly unique concoction. Here is what you are going to need:

  • Raw coconut oil 2 ounces
  • Melaleuca or tea tree essential oil 5 drops
  • Lavender essential oil 5 drops
  • Lemon essential oil 5 drops
  • Glass lotion pot 1 ounce

In a small glass bowl combine the raw coconut oil with the essential oils and mix with a spoon or metal fork. Scoop the mixture into your glass lotion pot and cap it up. Store in a dark, cool place. This mixture can be applied, as needed, directly to skin and is a popular do-it-yourself essential oil gift to share among moms and grandmas.

And Now Something For The Guys (and gals too)

Shaving cream that is minty fresh is something that the man in your life can enjoy, but so can ladies. Men, after all, are not the only ones who have to suffer the consequences of shaving. This makes the entire process a little more rewarding, invigorating, and soothing. Here’s what you will need:

  • Peppermint essential oil 7 or 8 drops
  • Castile soap 1 teaspoon
  • Raw olive oil 3 tablespoons
  • Coconut oil 1/3 cup
  • Shea butter 1/3 cup
  • Glass pot, 8 ounces, with lid

Blend your coconut oil and shea butter in a double boiler pot and heat on low until melted. Remove from heat and empty mixture into a glass bowl to which you will add the olive oil. After cooling slightly, mix in essential oil and Castile soap. Refrigerate for approximately one hour or until solidification begins. Take mixture out of the fridge and whip it in an immersion blender until you achieve a texture that is similar to whipped cream. Place the mixture into the glass pot and cap it up. This should be stored in a cool, dark place. To use, scoop out an amount about the size of a silver dollar and spread it on the area to be shaved.
