In this crazy workaday world, many of us end up feeling overwhelmed at work. Of course, they call it “work” for a reason, but that doesn’t mean that you have to feel stressed out, wound up, beat down, and done in. Through the use of the appropriate essential oils and other stress relieving methods, your entire outlook can be improved.

First let’s talk about dealing with the entire situation, followed by how to use essential oils to relieve stress and frustration.

Take Breaks and Learn How to Relax

Technically, you should be taking breaks and lunch during your workday. Do your best not to ignore those all-important periods away from whatever you’re working on. You’re less creative and productive when you’re tired and stressed.

Put Things In Perspective

Remember that not everything is a crisis, so try not to get carried away when things go wrong. What’s the bottom line here? How truly important is this when it all comes down? And, can you actually do anything about it?

Learn How to Say No

Fully realizing that this is frequently easier said than done, and that you don’t always have the option of saying no, you must learn how to turn things down when you need to, and when you can.

Stop Suffering in Silence

Let’s say you’ve been given far too much work to do and there’s no way you can get it done on time. Rather than coming up short, try saying something to your supervisor. Maybe they can spread the work out.

Do you feel that someone is harassing you on the job? This is particularly not something that should go unaddressed. Go to your supervisor. If it’s your supervisor that is doing the harassing, go over their head. Check with your human resource department to see if there’s something that can be done.

Identify and Understand Your Triggers

Try to identify what it is that’s making you feel overwhelmed. Do you feel let down by the company culture? Too much pressure by your boss? Not enough hours in the day because you have far too many responsibilities? Stress is very often the cause of feeling overwhelmed. If you can figure out what’s stressing you out, you may be able to reduce your feelings of being overwhelmed.

Figure Out How to Move On

So, when all is said and done, and you’ve tried all of the methods listed above, what then? Move on. Do what you can, accomplish what you can, and move on.

Moving on may mean simply accepting what you cannot change and carrying on through the rest of your day, week, month, year, etc. Or it may mean moving on entirely – to a different job. Learn when to say when!
