Every time the Christmas season comes, you cannot help but wonder what to gift your special someone with. You want to make this year extra special and it will be hard doing so unless you think of a unique way to surprise him or her. Why not try something different this time? Since more people are into wellness these days, DIY gifts are great ideas to include in your list of options. The following recipes or concoctions will be a good place to start:

#1 – Homemade Air Fresheners

Have you ever thought you will be able to make your very own air freshener and send it as a gift to someone you love? Well, now is the time to bring those ingredients together and concoct your own blend of room spritzers. Your choices are varied for these ones. Basically, all you need is three-fourths cup of water, two tablespoons of either rubbing alcohol or vodka or real vanilla extract, and a mixture of different essential oils. Get that citrus-mint aroma with a combination of 10 drops of wild orange essential oil and eight drops of peppermint oil. For a cozy holiday, you can combine six drops of wild orange oil with five drops each of clove and cassia essential oil. Just combine all these and you will have your own air freshener done in no time.

# 2 – Body Butter

The Christmas season can dry the skin because of the cold winter breeze. There is no better way to give a solution to that problem than to prepare your own body butter concoction which you can also give to your friends. You simply need one-fourth cup each of coconut oil and sweet almond oil added to one-half cup of shea butter. You can also add in about 10 to 20 drops of essential oils into the blend. Your choices include peppermint, bergamot, lavender, geranium, wild orange, and frankincense among others.

# 3 – Body Scrub

You can also give your friends an exfoliating body scrub for this season. One of the popular choices is the coffee-sugar scrub which combines two ounces each of coconut and avocado oil, a cup of brown sugar, and one and one-fourths ounces of cocoa butter. You will also need a tablespoon of ground coffee beans. Combine coconut oil and cocoa butter and place it in a preheated oven. Allow the mixture to melt before taking it out. Cool the mixture by putting it in a pan or tray to be placed on top of ice. Mix the avocado oil into the preheated mixture. Allow to cool then add sugar and ground coffee beans a little at a time.

# 4 – Playdough

You can also concoct a sweet-scented Playdough recipe for kids. You will need a cup of water and all-purpose flour, one-half cup of salt, two teaspoons cream of tartar, one and a half teaspoons of liquid cooking oil, food coloring, and 6 to eight drops of your chosen essential oil. Stir the flour, cream of tartar and salt in a saucepan. Add in the remaining ingredients except for the essential oil. Stir until smooth and heat until it reaches the Playdough consistency. Add the essential oil as you knead the dough.

# 5 – Bath Salts

For this one, you will need coarse sea salt, Epsom salt, food coloring, baking soda, and essential oil. Using a large bowl, combine six parts of coarse sea salt with three parts of Epsom salt. Add a few drops of your chosen essential oil before adding a few drops of food coloring.
